KABANC SPOTLIGHT on Dr. Tae Woong Koo – KABANC Immediate Past President

Tae-Woong Koo is KABANC’s Minority Bar Coalition Unity Award recipient for 2014. Tae-Woong is a senior associate in Morgan Lewis’s Intellectual Property Practice. The holder of more than 30 patents himself, Tae-Woong’s years of work as a research scientist prior to becoming a lawyer make him uniquely qualified to help Silicon Valley’s largest technology companies protect the fruits of their labor. Before earning his J.D. at Santa Clara University, Tae-Woong completed his masters and Ph.D. in mechanical engineering at MIT, and then became a senior research scientist at Intel.

Statement By BASF and Request for Participation

In an effort to advance diversity in the San Francisco Bay Area legal community work force, the Bar Association of San Francisco (BASF) has studied racial and ethnic minority diversity in the legal profession for over 20 years. Every 5 years BASF conducts a study in San Francisco/Bay Area (SF/Bay Area) firms to assess the progress of the hiring, retention and advancement of minority attorneys.

A Conversation with Washington's Technology and Privacy Cop: Federal Trade Commission Chairwoman Edith Ramirez

Please join Marisa Chun, former KABANC President and partner at McDermott Will & Emery LLP, for a discussion on privacy and cybersecurity as it relates to the law. The FTC has emerged as a critical enforcer of consumer protection and antitrust laws that increasingly matter to Bay Area companies, on issues ranging from data privacy and security to virtual currency.

KABANC’s Fall Pro Bono Legal Clinic

10am – 4pm, Saturday, Nov. 22, 2014 at UC Hastings

We are looking for attorney and student volunteers for KABANC’s Fall Pro Bono Legal Clinic. We need volunteers with any and all ranges of experience in all practice areas. This is a great way to give back to the Korean American community and for law students to participate in the in-take process and engage in client interaction.
